To register and file as a new or renewing Notary Public in Los Angeles County, you will need to provide the following information to the RR/CC office:

  • Original commission certificate (issued by the Secretary of State)
  • Notary bond for $15,000
  • Two copies of the oath of office form
  • Government issued identification (in person filings only)
  • Filing fees (Make your check or money order payable to the Los Angeles County Clerk):
    • $23 registration fee (includes clerk's fee of $16 and filing fee of $7)
    • $20 bond recording fee ($20 for the first page; $3 for each additional page of the bond)
  • Names on commission, bond, and oath must be exactly the same

Mail Requests

Mail requests are only processed at the above Norwalk location by certified mail. District offices do not process mail requests.

To request that Notary Bond and Oath be processed by mail, the oath must be notarized by a notary in the county of Los Angeles. You must include a self-addressed stamped envelope for the return of any conformed copies.
