The Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk will close all of its offices to the public effective Monday, March 16 as a precautionary measure to help slow the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19).

Marriage License and Civil Ceremony Appointment

Pursuant to the Governor's Executive Order (N-63-20) the Los Angeles Registrar/Recorder County Clerk will begin offering Remote Marriage License and Civil Ceremony Appointments.

All couples getting married will purchase their marriage license and have their civil ceremony on the same video conferencing call.


To make an appointment one or both individuals must meet the following criteria:

  • One individual must be a resident of Los Angeles County
  • Both individuals must be in the same place in the State of California
  • Both individuals must have valid government identification
  • Must have a device with video/audio capabilities (desktop, laptop, tablet or phone)
  • Must have an internet connection
