Community & Voter Outreach Services

The Community and Voter Outreach Team provides a number of services for all communities in L.A. County. Some well known events are:

Voter Registration Drives

Voter registration drives are the most common type of events for the Community and Voter Outreach team. Booths or tables are set up at local events in L.A. County to register people to vote.

The Community & Voter Outreach team provides the 5.9 million eligible voters in Los Angeles County with voter registration opportunities and voter education materials. Throughout the year, the team is invited to numerous community events, workshops  and forums where they answer election-related questions while conducting voter registration drives and passing out voting materials.

The Community & Voter Outreach team continually seeks to partner with community groups and non-profit organizations to expand their ability to provide registration services to the citizens of Los Angeles County. Team members provide training, guidance and materials to those groups interested in conducting their own registration drives.

The RR/CC frequently works with the following community groups and non-profit organizations:

  • American Association of Retired Persons (AARP)
  • Asian Pacific American Legal Center (APALC)
  • Alliance for Justice
  • Arts for L.A.

Deputy Registrar Training

To promote and encourage voter registrations, the RR/CC conducts Deputy Registrar training for interested citizens and organizations to register voters and conduct petition drives.

This program is offered to the public free of charge. Deputized individuals are permitted to register voters anywhere within the county.

Topics will include proper methods and techniques for registering voters, assisting electors with the completion of voter registration forms, and important California Election Codes related to registration requirements. Participants will receive a copy of "The Guide to Registering Voters" and a Deputy Registrar of Voters Certificate upon the successful completion of the hour and a half training program.

Deputy Registrar Certification Training sessions are held at the Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk's Norwalk office located at 12400 Imperial Hwy, Norwalk CA, Room 5219 .

If you or your organization is interested in participating in this free training program or have any questions, contact the Community & Voter Outreach section at (562) 345-8364.

Thank you for your cooperation and assistance with our efforts to provide convenient and efficient voter registration services to Los Angeles County residents.

New Citizenship Ceremonies

The Community & Voter Outreach team is proud to regularly attend naturalization ceremonies in Los Angeles County to welcome new citizens to register to vote.

A new citizen registering to vote after the close of registration will still be eligible to vote in the upcoming election provided that person presents proof of citizenship to the county elections official and declares that he/she has established residency in Los Angeles County.

If you are participating in a naturalization ceremony soon, keep an eye out for the RR/CC Community and Voter Outreach staff. You can register to vote, learn about your options as a new voter and get answers to your voting questions.

Voting Equipment Demonstrations

Whether you're a first-time voter or someone who has always wondered about the voting equipment in Los Angeles County, voting equipment demonstrations can be extremely helpful. Although the pollworkers at your polling place will be able to give you a brief demonstration of how to use the voting equipment on Election Day, learning how to use the vote recorder ahead of time is ideal.

To familiarize eligible voters with voting equipment they will utilize on Election Day, the Community & Voter Outreach team routinely conducts hands-on demonstrations of the equipment.

Upon request, the team will set up and demonstrate voting equipment at public events and community forums.

Demonstrations include:

  • A setup of a polling place
  • Usage of InkaVote vote recorders
  • Usage of Precinct Ballot Readers (PBRs)
  • Usage of Audio Ballot Booths (ABBs)

If you or your organization has a request in voting equipment demonstrations, contact Community & Voter Outreach section at (562) 345-8365.
