Legal Document Assistant - Individual

Those who for compensation, assist the public in filing legal papers for any self help service for members of the public who are representing themselves in a legal matter.

Legal Document Assistant

Legal Document Assistant registration is required in each county where the services are performed. The registration application is completed and submitted in our main office in Norwalk , CA .

The registrant must appear in person and meet the following requirements:

  • Possess a valid, government issued, picture identification (established by a birth certificate, such as a Driver’s License or Passport).
  • Present a bond in the amount of $25,000.00 naming the registrant as principal providing the term of the bond, two (2) years, commencement date and expiration date.
  • Registrant must meet the education and experience requirements as listed on the application for Legal Document Assistant and provide supporting educational documentation as required in Business and Profession Code § 6400, 6402 & 6408.

The registration fee is $200.00 which includes the recording/filing fee of a single sided, single page bond, but may vary. Please add $3.00 for each additional page of the bond.

Pictures for temporary and/or permanent identification cards will be taken at the time of registration in our office. Additional, lost or stolen replacement cards are $10.00 each.

Legal Document Assistant

Legal Document Assistant registration is required in each county where the services are performed. The registration application is completed and submitted in our main office in Norwalk , CA . If registering as a corporation or partnership, we require at least two partners or corporate officers to be present to sign at the time of registration. Only one partner or corporate officer must submit their supporting educational documentation.

  • Corporate officers/general partners must possess a valid, government issued, picture identification (established by a birth certificate, such as a Driver’s License or Passport).
  • Present a bond in the amount of $25,000.00 naming the registrant as principal providing the term of the bond, two (2) years, commencement date and expiration date.
  • One of the corporate officers or one of the general partners must meet the education and experience requirements as listed on the application for Legal Documents Assistant and provide supporting educational documentation as required pursuant to Business and Profession Code § 6400, 6402 & 6408.
